A Koob (<--that is BOOK backwards)

I LOVE books.
Now I suppose I could rant about the latest book I read or this amazing new author, but I am talking about the physical object.

I love books.

Every individual book has a scent. It has a.... feeling. When there is a book in your hand, there is an ACTUAL new world sitting in your hands.
There is life in every page.
Books breathe.

At that last line, there is a physical thing you have to do in order to GET the rest of the story. Work. (the only real thing you HAVE to do to keep its heart beating.) You turn the page  oVEr . It's discovering a new room. There is a space you weren't occupying, you open a door and viola! You're in the middle of something new. Dropped into a new experience. Living the story, rather than watching it happen. There is something comforting about holding a story. There is a choice for how quickly you come to the end. It is up to you whether you start at the beginning for that first read or the middle for that fifth time through.

I think the reason I have to fling this into the universe is... well, ebooks and ipads.. There isn't a way to recreate a physical book on a half inch thick tablet. It doesn't matter how many sounds and recordings go off when you "turn" a page on them... Because when it comes down to it, no WAY would I rather snuggle up with a piece of plastic when I can have my spine broken, weathered copy of something amazing.
I hope they aren't in danger of becoming extinct.
