Discoveries

I'm not sure how many people are in my same boat on this, but I definitely have a list of people I would LOVE to never have to see/hear from again. If you're not, then count your blessings and remember them later when you do!
This week proved that I have a list of them. Sadly, there are enough on it that I have 'tops' to this list! I had the... errrm curse of hearing from a few in the top.

It's really difficult when you run into someone from your past. But life has a funny way if intertwining people from all your "Lists" into your future.
I am positive this is because they are there to be road blocks on current paths of happiness. I mean, they were successful in helping you trip up and stumble once, twice (maybe more) already, why not just throw them back into the mix to see if they can accomplish the task again?
This is where I draw a line. I REFUSE to let my past determine my future. Mistakes aren't inhuman.

"A man's errors are his portals of discovery."
-James Joyce

I love this because discoveries are something that you can actively look for, have thrown into your face, but they also can be stumbled upon.

Discoveries aren't able to define you. The way you respond to them does...

So I've decided I am going to actively try to use these realizations. The very ones I have had hit me square in the face, whispered over my shoulder and the aged ones that come from experience and let my future be a concoction of whatever is thrown my way and my active choices.

I don't want the clarity of hindsight.

I want to do all I can now to avoid these same regrets.
I know that I'll still have unavoidable situations, but I will have at least tried and that is all I can ask of myself.
